Hi I'm Diane, a founder member of The Making Place.
I have lived in Lancaster since 1990.
I have longed for a place in the city centre where I could meet up with other makers and linger over tea and cake at a reasonable price.
I'm very privileged to have friends and family who endure and encourage me along the way.
For me, The Making Place is about celebrating our individual style in a collective way.
I am overwhelmed at the generosity of the group in knowledge, friendship, and fun week by week.
I'm Vicky I am a keen baker and enjoy making cakes for us every week. I also help behind the scenes organising and attending meetings. I have enjoyed many crafts in the past, including knitting toys, lino printing, sewing and macramé. My official title is Kitchen Co-ordinator which involves working with our volunteers who provide and serve refreshments. I also enjoy spending time with members of the group as they make and chat.
Debs formal title is treasurer.
She came to us with a crochet hook and a ball of wool and made a huge "grannie blanket". Since then she has developed into an adventurous crochet woman and incredible beaded jewellery maker.
Debs regularly shares her skills with members of the group and is a patient teacher.
We are very grateful she also loves numbers and balancing!

Phil is bringing us into the 21st century developing a Facebook page and all things publicity.
He is a skilled woodworker and is regularly trying out new things.
Phil does the neatest hand stitchery and is a patient teacher. He has mastered the sewing machine and we have seen some ingenious makes.
Phil's humour helps me to stop taking things so seriously.

Hi I'm Celia.
I joined the making Place as a volunteer in January 2015 after finding out about the group on the Just Do IT website. I help in the kitchen serving drinks and our delicious cakes. I’m interested in crafting mainly sewing and knitting. I found attending the meetings really inspiring as members of the group are really talented in different crafts and there is always someone there who can help if you get stuck on a project. I’ve recently learned how to knit socks. I also make a cake each week for the meeting we usually have 3 different cakes each week. I enjoy baking but don’t want to have to eat it all myself now that the family have left so this gives me the opportunity to try different recipes. Everyone in the group is so friendly.
Celia has the official title of secretary.
